Notes from Ms. Hui's voice lesson, June 24, 2010

"Visualize an "ah" sound that is warmer."

"Use e vowel, the eh sound, to practice the high ranges."

"Drink warm liquids when you sing to keep the vocal chords relaxed."

"When you sing the ah vowel, your lower lip curls in too much. No tension! Tensing your lips doesn't enhance the sound."

"There's a lot going on when you're trying to get better!"

"Watch for the little details, like breathing, so you practice efficiently, not having to undo things."

Homework: listen to Pergolesi's "Nina" for proper Italian pronunciation, like 'let-to' and 'giorno'. Listen to "The Impossible Dream" to learn the rhythm.
