High School

My high school was Subiaco Academy, a boarding school in Arkansas. I was beaten several times a week for three years for refusing to play football. The monks knew. They blamed me.

Last month I saw the program "Nerd Nation" where a guy who was bullied as a kid realized as an adult that he'd rather have taken the beatings and be who he is today than not get the beatings and been one of the bullies (or a bystander who did nothing.)

Helped me a lot. I mean, I'm a standup comic with a paid-off Master's Degree living in the Nation's Capital, and they're still rednecks living in Arkansas and Texas.

Karma is real.

*hugs you*

When I was in grade school, my best friend suffered from Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome. (Aging disease) Anyway, she was always the target of bullies and I was always in fist fights because of it.

She was timid and so was I. I, however, couldn't stand by and let people hurt her. I had many black eyes, lost many fights, and developed a reputation as a combative child.

I had my share of time under the bully target, myself, but I had to wonder as I got older if I fell under the bully category myself for being so physical in my defense of my friend. *shrug* I try not to be too introspective, it makes me sad.

I keep this on my info page:

I will not stand for this

Yes! the best revenge is success. I go back to my high school reunions just for that reason. I've even volunteered to be the entertainment at the next one... How can you turn down a free "adult" hypnosis show. bahahahahaha!
