Imagination exercise:

Imagination exercise:

Thanks to miss_tease for giving me the idea to make this generic for discussion purposes.

1) When you imagine being what you want to be, knowing what you want to know, doing what you want to do, what are your surroundings? What does it look like? What do you see?

2) Now that you're in that moment and you're knowing, being, doing What you desire, what sounds are in the environment?  Speech?  nature?  machines?  what words and sounds do you hear?

3) What are you wearing?  What's the temperature? What do you feel on the outside of yourself?  Do you smell or taste anything?

4) What's the difference between this moment in your imagination and the person you are now?

5) What prevents you from being that person right now, from this moment?

If I were to be where I wanted to be, I'd be in a house. My house, new. One I just bought after writing my first (and subsequently best selling) novel. It would be empty, and it would smell like new paint, the sound my footsteps on the hardwood floors would resonate throughout the whole house. It's cool, and there's a breeze coming in through the french doors leading out to my deck. Boasting an expansive view of the pacific.

Who I am now is way too preoccupied with health, and financial difficulties to even concentrate on writing. Someday. So for now, I will enjoy my little one bedroom with my two cats, and be thankful for what I have, and the future I hope to make for myself.

basilwhite: Nice.

Good piece of writing. When you want it, it'll happen for you. Thanks for your comment.
