You're a DC writer and you've never heard of the Writer's Center? WTF is wrong with you?

Writer's Center in Bethesda publishes the oldest poetry journal in America and teach a pile o' creative writing courses.

They're having a free open house this Sat. Jan. 13, noon-3.

Come by and tell 'em you know me. I'll introduce you to the teachers and explain how it works. Then you can win the drawing for the free class. I recommend the lady who teaches kids how to write stories and bind their own books.

My own class is one student short of sold out, squee. I just added a new class session in Glen Echo, so that's ripe for registerees. Glen Echo Park is a hella drive from NoVA but I like teaching in a prewar amusement park. Where else can I decompress from teaching on the bumpercars?

What would you want to learn in a comedy writing class?

Thanks for the heads up. Alas, since I still can't do your course because of the Sunday schedule, I can't sign up for your class. I also can't make it to the open house on Saturday because of a funeral. I am going to sign up for a course, but I'm having trouble deciding. I'm looking to do something on journaling/blogging/personalessaying/memoiring. I'm particularly looking at Gregory Robinson's "Life Sentences" course and Lynn Stearns' "Stories from the Attic." Any opinions on the courses or teachers you can offer?

basilwhite: Greg Robinson.

I don't know Lynn Stearns, but that means nothing, 'cos big-brained award-winning people teach at the Writer's Center. I'm definitely the pet monkey at that country club.

Greg Robinson, however, is the President of the Writer's Center. We stole him from his former job as president of the Writer's Center in effing EDINBOROUGH, SCOTLAND.

Take Greg's class. I want a full report.

P.S.: You can direct yourself through my class handout and ask me questions about it...

...see how I care? Yes, I do.

Thanks for the advice. I registered for Greg's class. It starts in a couple of weeks. I'll let you know all about it.
