Interests meme.

Comment on this post and I will pick seven of your interests. You then explain them in your journal and re-post.

Here's what deyaniera chose:

dismemphis: I have NO IDEA what this means. I'm originally from Memphis, but I was the only one on LJ with this interest.

dva: Where I work.

E-prime: Changed my life. The English language without the verb "to be." Changed the way I write, speak and think, no foolin'.
Wikipedia entry on E-Prime here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-Prime
Online E-prime word fixer-upper here - http://www.manifestation.com/neurotoys/eprime.pl

feel don't think!: Something about not living in my head all the time.

gapingvoid: Website of the guy who explained to me how to be creative -- http://www.gapingvoid.com/Moveable_Type/archives/000932.html -- and he also writes damn funny illustrations on the backs of business cards.

govies: I work for the Government. I'm here to help you.

persuasion engineering: Imagine a joke as a con game where you realize you've been conned when you laugh instead of when you realize your money's gone. I use techniques in "persuasion engineering," a.k.a "applied bullsh*t," to teach my class on applied humor comprehension theory.

I try to use e-prime sometimes, but I find it difficult unless I intentionally practice with it. I also try to avoid using the word "it" gratuitously. And with NVC on top of those, I really have to slow down and think about how to express my thoughts. Ugh!
