Root principal chords (C) are the major one string up (F) and the 7th a string back/a 7th up (G7).

The relative minor to the root is the minor to the root three notes back (Am). The relative minor to the principal major (F) is three notes back (Dm). The relative minor to the principal 7th (G7) is three notes back (E7).

Alternate chords for the root (C) are the root's 6th (C6), the root's diminished (Cdim), the root's augmented (Caug), the 6th of the principal major (F6), the 6th of the relative minor to the root (Am), and the 6th of the relative minor of the principal major (Dm6).
